Why we LOVE trees
Trees are good for the environment
Trees provide oxygen and clean the air we breathe. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, “One acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and puts out four tons of oxygen. This is enough to meet the annual needs of 18 people.” Trees also help control the climate by sheltering the earth from the harsh effects of the sun, precipitation, and wind. A tree’s root system also works underground to hold soil in place, slow down water runoff and prevent erosion. Trees are a crucial part of our delicate ecosystem
Trees provide food and nourishment year-round for many different animals, birds, and insects. From the leaves and needles growing from their branches to the fruits and nuts they produce, a variety of living creatures depend on trees for their survival. Many animals, such as squirrels, as well as birds and insects, spend much of their lives in the safety of the tree branches and rarely come down to the ground. They rely on trees for shelter from the weather, a safe place to raise their young and to keep them out of reach from predators.
Trees are beautiful
Trees provide us with many essential gifts. They provide shade from the sun, shelter from harsh weather, and beauty for our eyes. They represent hope, life, family, and wisdom. Trees are often planted as living memorials to mark life-changing events such as weddings, births, or the loss of loved ones. We often become attached to certain trees in our yard or ones that we pass often. They bring back nostalgic memories of past years.

Mama Robin thought that one of the trees on our Christmas tree plantation would make a perfect place to build a nest and raise her babies. We agreed.
Trees are a crucial part of life for a variety of bird species. They provide everything from food, shelter, water, and a safe place to lay their eggs and raise their young.
Planting trees is a great way to attract birds and other wildlife to your property.
